Couture Cardigan Jacket

Claire shares techniques that she has learned through years of teaching and through the examination of construction methods used in more than 300 Chanel garments. Some 75-plus couture pieces are from her personal collection. This class takes you from conception to completion of your own cardigan jacket styled on this enduring, versatile, and iconic design.

Tailoring Techniques

Throughout these classes, Claire Shaeffer showcases couture garments from her collection and teaches principles used in their construction including methods used by designers like Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, and Yves Saint Laurent. She teaches techniques with the goal of helping you sew professional-looking, tailored pieces.

The Couture Skirt

The faux wrap is one of the most popular Chanel skirts. Its beautiful design allows the wearer to walk easily without restriction. In this series, Claire Shaeffer teaches you to construct your own faux wrap skirt.

Making Designer Trims

By the end of the 1950s Coco Chanel had found her niche with the classic cardigan jacket. She introduced her iconic braided trim in 1956 and popularized the trimmed jacket by giving it a new look each year. In this series Claire Shaeffer showcases traditional Chanel trims as well as trims that were inspired by Chanel. In the second class in this series Claire teaches construction methods to create and apply these trims.
