Meet the Instructor

Joi Mahon has been sewing and designing since she was 6 years old. Today, Designer Joi is a fashion designer, McCall’s licensed pattern designer, and well-known sewing instructor. She has written articles for Threads magazine and authored the books “Ultimate Illustrated Guide to Sewing Clothes” and “Create the Perfect Fit and Fashion Sewing Workshop.” Her teaching specialties include patternmaking,  garment fitting, and advanced construction techniques. Designer Joi’s Sewing Factory is her studio in Sioux City, Iowa, where she creates custom clothing and online learning experiences.
